We do indeed need to do things as the Swiss do, but even though various areas of Switzerland tend to be pulled towards neighboring nations, linguistically and otherwise, it is still a small, relatively homogenous nation. The U.S. is huge and politically diverse, and values regarding gun ownership as well as other issues vary greatly from region to region. We need gun laws similar to those in Switzerland, but actually making it happen would require a sea change politically in this country.
