Retiring from a job is one thing and retiring from life is another. The important thing is to not retire from life. I am now pleasantly busier than ever, and I am baffled when I hear retired people say they have nothing to do or that life has lost meaning. When I retired all those things I had no time for when I was working simply rushed in and filled the vacuum. No drama, no depression, no angst; instead, it all feels quite good. And, no, I'm not wealthy; far from it. I make a bit of money on the side to supplement my income, but that hasn't messed up my life in the least. I suspect that in some cases those who find retirement difficult probably had their priorities a little skewed to begin with: perhaps too much of their ego invested in their job, their status, or their income. Successful retirement means relaxing and rolling with the that mellow flow.
