Once past events move from "living memory" --- with human beings alive who actually remember the events --- to "historical memory" --- recorded but with no one alive who remembers --- then the odds of history repeating itself, or at least rhyming (as Mark Twain said), rises dramatically. We are most likely in for very difficult times. The 1930's and 1940's were only a dress rehearsal.
