I think it would help if the educational standards for prophets were elevated, much in the way medicine and law were professionalized. An aspiring prophet might earn an undergraduate degree, usually, though not necessarily, in theology or philosophy. After that would come three years of postgraduate study focusing solely on prophecy, with extensive study of Old Testament prophets as well as prophecy from non-Christian traditions. In the New Testament, particular attention would be paid to the book of Revelation, and at least one course would deal with techniques for monetization of prophecy. This would be followed by residency under an established prophet, during which time the aspiring prophet would be judged on the accuracy of his or her prognostications. If found competent, the newly minted prophet could then pursue an independent practice of prophecy.
