Cephas (Peter) was armed with a sword, which was the state-of-the-art equivalent of a gun in his day. It is interesting that no mention is made of the sword prior to Jesus' arrest, when Jesus told him to put the sword away after Peter cut off the ear of the Malchus, who was a servant of the High Priest Caiaphas. Since Peter had the sword at the arrest, it may be assumed he had carried it with him during all or most of Jesus' ministry, and apparently Jesus never told him to get rid of it. And what of the other disciples? Did they also have swords? There's no way to know, but it is interesting that Simon Peter, whom Catholicism identifies as the first Pope, was packing heat.
